5 Years Old

Today is Max's birthday! I can't believe he is 5 years old. He has been counting down for 15 days (I'm sure he would have counted down longer if he were more comfortable with a higher number). However, he does talk about his birthday ALL year. He loves birthdays. He was a little spoiled this year but he was so excited we just couldn't help ourselves.

Max is one of the most caring little boys I know. He is very sweet and loving. He still loves snuggling (which I LOVE!). As I've said many times he is a great big brother. He loves writing and building with blocks. He also loves drawing and he's a pretty good artist. He loves family game night. He's wearing size 6 clothes and is so tall. We signed him up for t-ball and he is so excited. He loves playing catch and practicing. It's really cute! His dad is definitely his hero.

As a side note, I ran my first 10k today. My goal was 1:30 but my official time with a restroom stop was 1:16 but the time on my GPS was 1:12. So I was really pleased!

Enjoy some pictures! Have a great week. Hugs and love!

To infinity and beyond

I figured if I was posting about Christmas, I might as well post about Halloween.ax wanted to be Buzz light year this year so Maggie was Jesse. They were so cute!! My dad joined us and he dressed as woody. It was so funny and Max loved it. We went to Owen and Shannon's and enjoyed snacks and then trick-or-treated. We carved pumpkins again at our house and had a great time. Halloween is such a fun holiday!

Hugs!!

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas season. Don't be fooled by my failure to post about it for 2 months.
Max was old enough this year to really talk more about the true meaning of Christmas. We read an advent calendar that told the Christmas story. He really enjoyed it. It prompted us to talk more about God, Jesus and mass. We also talked more about people and children without anyone. We adopted a boy his age at church and he did really well shopping for the little boy and handling not getting something too. We also did three presents this year because that is how many presents Jesus received from the wise men. That really seemed to make sense to Max and was an easy way to tie it back to Jesus.
Santa brought Max the tool bench he wanted! It's do neat! He LOVED the tool belt from Bobby too.
We cut down our own tree this year. Let me just say - NIGHTMARE!!! That tree feel down at least 4 times!! (Once in the middle of the night setting off the alarm). The tree ended up on the deck and we finished with a fake tree.
However I will say we had a fantastic time at the Christmas tree farm. That will definitely be a tradition - we'll just cut a small tree for Max's room or something.

Growing up too fast

All week we have been doing the count down to Max's FIFTH BIRTHDAY!!!! I cannot believe he will be FIVE on Sunday. Hurts.my.heart. He is so excited he can't stand it. I love my sweet little boy. He is such a good brother. He usually tolerates Maggie pretty well and actually plays with her. They like to chase each other and play hide-n-go seek. It's so cute, you'll here Maggie calling out "find me, find me". It's SO cute! He doesn't however appreciate when she knocks over his blocks when she is building. But I mean who can blame her - its so much fun to knock over blocks. I remember it being one of Max's favorite games when he was a toddler - so he should actually should be able to relate. ;)
My sweet Max isn't the only one growing up. Maggie is right on his heels. She is talking in full sentences and we can understand her 90% of the time. I have had a really sad (time intensive) case lately. On President's Day, I had to go to work for a conference call. My boss Lisa is amazing. Her office is full of toys. I didn't think anyone would be at the office because of the holiday but it was pretty full. Lisa and Margie came to my rescue and played with the kids. Lisa even took Maggie to the bathroom and she POOPED in the POTTY!!! How sad is it that my baby's first potty milestone was at my office, in a public restroom, WHILE I WAS WORKING?? So thankful for Lisa. She's such a blessing.
After my call, we went bowling for the first time. We had lots of fun. We met Max's friend Micah and his mom. Maggie won - really!! Makes me laugh.
Say a prayer for us this week as Max turns 5! Also say a prayer for these sweet little kids on this case I'm working on - these little ones (like all our kids) could really use it.
HUGS and love!!

Enjoy some pictures!!
