Peek-a-Boo, I see you!!

Everything I've read and everyone I've talked with says the bottom, middle teeth are the first to poke through, and we've been able to watch the two teeth make their way up his gum line. So, for the past month or so I've been waiting and watching for one of Max's bottom teeth to poke through. I just knew any day we'd see a pearly white poke through.
Well, I was partly right. Today, I was rubbing his gums and feeling for anything sharp when Max bit down on my finger. To my surprise, I felt something sharp on the top of my finger. That little stinker faked me out! He has a top, side tooth peeking through! It isn't one of the two center teeth. It's either his far left incisor or his canine. It's hard to tell because its his lone tooth and it's on the side of his mouth (and I'm not a dentist).
I guess Max just isn't going to do anything "by the book". He rolled over from him back to his belly first rather than belly to back; he said Mom-ma first rather than Dad-da (because babies usually say daddy first NO one really believes he said Mom-ma - but I swear, Kelly as my witness (and to his disappointment), he said Mom-ma clear as day); and now he's not getting his teeth in the "proper" order! I think I'm going to have to find some new baby books!
I tried to take some pictures but, they didn't turn out. (I had to put Max in his snug in tug to keep his hands from getting in the way. It was really funny.)

We had some more BIG news today. Molly and Shawn (and Ben) found out they are having a GIRL!!!! YAY, another girl in the McNulty family! We're so excited for them and just can't wait. She is still due the end of February.

What an exciting day!! Hope you all have a great weekend! and GO HOGS!

So Cute, I just HAD to share!

Today, Max had a cowlick that would have given Alfalfa a run for his money. (I tried to smooth it down but nothing worked). Well, at dinner he decided to use the prunes as gel and turned that cowlick into a Mohawk! Check it out. He wouldn't really cooperate for the side view but trust me that it was so cute! (You can see that the black eye is getting better and please excuse his dirty face - remember, he had just eaten.)

As a side note, Max is working REALLY hard on getting his bottom teeth. He's been teething for quite some time now. You know, the drooling and chewing on things. Starting about two months ago, you could see the teeth making their way up his gumline. Well, last night I actually felt them at the top of his gumline! Today, he's really been pretty fussy and kinda whiney. So, let's hope they appear sooner rather than later for Max's sake.

Another first, BUT . . .

it isn't such a good first this time! So, we watched the Hogs play on PPV at home with family and friends. Well, while mom was out grilling burgers, Max had an accident and received his first BLACK EYE!!!! Apparently, Lauren was holding him and he decided he wanted a drink from Megan's glass and hit his eye while diving into the drink. TERRIBLE!! Poor baby!! He's fine and hardly even cried - in fact, right after it happen they brought him to me outside and he had already stopped crying. I put some frozen peas on his eye (he was so interested in sucking on them, I had to get another bag - one for his eye and one for his enjoyment!) It already looked better this morning. Below are some pictures of our first boo, boo!!

Max's Eye that night

Isn't this so sad? (The next day)

Don't worry, Max is so tough! (Kinda Like Chuck Norris) He thinks it's funny!!
Harper Came to Check on Max and Play Just a Little!

An update - so we went to the dr. on Friday and we're right on target!! So, he weighs 20 lbs. 2 oz. and measures 29.25 inches. He did so great with the shots. He had to get three Friday, but didn't cry until the third shot and stopped as soon as he was picked up. What a trooper!! He is still teething. You can see where the two bottom teeth are making their way up his gum line. Since he really starting teething, his sleep pattern has changed a bit. He sleeps from about 8:30 p.m. or 9:00 p.m. until about 4:00 a.m. (some days he will sleep longer, but I'm not complaining at ALL). He will eat, go back to sleep and sleep until about 8:00 a.m. or so. We're really eating twice a day now. He eats about 2 tablespoons of cereal and 1 tablespoon of vegetables (we've just started to add a little bit of fruit) at each meal. We've made our way through most of the vegetables. He LOVES peas and likes green beans, squash and carrots. He'll tolerate sweet potatoes. We've tried prunes and peaches. He liked them both. He's rolling over in spurts - some days he does it all day long and then sometimes he'll go a whole day without doing it at all. HE loves being read to and chewing on books. His feet are still one of his favorite toys. The mobile and baby Einstein mat are right up there as a favorite too as well as his bumbo and toys! Sugah bought him one of his FAVORITE toys that he plays with CONSTANTLY - he loves the links she bought him. But, he LOVES playing "Where's Max?" We are still practicing our sitting and he gets more interested in standing every day. I think he would love to crawl but really has no idea what it is. He will lay on his tummy and just kick his legs trying to go. It's quite entertaining. We're in 9 month and 12 month clothes. Everything gets better EVERY day!
BTW - Chris passed the bar on Friday!! YAY CHRIS!!!
Hope you all have a MAXnificent week!! Hugs!!

6 MONTHS OLD!!!

I just cannot believe that my baby boy is six months old today -my, time sure has flown! We go to the doctor for our 6 month check up on Friday, so I'll provide stats then. We are going to have 6 month photos later this month - I REALLY can't wait. Below are pictures from amateur photo hour at the McNulty house! Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Max!!

WHAT A DAY!!!!

O' my goodness! We've had quite a day of firsts today! It began when Max decided to read his first magazine. It was American Baby. Take a look:

Rather than learning by reading or even osmosis, he's learning via digestion! Talk about heartburn!!I'm not quite sure that he liked his first "taste" of reading. (Looks like Kelly eating Cauliflower!)

Then, while I was cooking dinner he said MOM-MA!! I mean CLEAR as day and more than once!!! It made my heart skip a beat - EACH time! (Kelly witnessed it!) It was one of those moments where you say, "O my gosh, he SAID momma!!" not "Did he just say momma?" Now rather or not he knows what it means is a completely different thing all together. It feels like mother's day all over again! I know this may sound silly but it almost makes me cry just thinking about it! My baby said his first word!! (Does it count if they don't know what it means - either way, it counts for me today!)

Well, if that wasn't enough, he had a few more first today - he's must be going down the check list he read in his magazine and is just checking things off! WORDS really are power!! (Or maybe he's just like his mom and procrastinates, but then he gets everything done all in one day!) So, I was getting him ready for bed and laid him down. He wasn't laying flat on his back. He was on a pillow, at a slight incline, but not in a sitting position at all. Well, that sucker has some STRONG stomach muscles because he crunched his stomach and pulled himself into a sitting position WITHOUT falling forward or toppling over for the FIRST time!! He sat ALL by himself and acted like he'd been doing it FOREVER - Can we say check, check - mark those milestones down! (I mean I'm am just BEAMING with pride!!) It's so exciting, but at the same time, it's kind of sad because it means he's growing up.

My baby sitting (without any help) for the very first time!!
Ya gotta hold your tongue JUST right to sit by yourself!
Look MOMMA, No Hands!

(Moms really are just a bunch of women - we just can't make up our minds. One minute I'm so impatient and just can't wait for him to reach EVERY milestone but in that same breathe I'm sad when he actually does because he isn't the little tiny baby I brought home from the hospital, meaning he's growing up and will need me less and less!)
