(This is a pretty boring blog post - more for a record when I print the blog than for entertainment!) With a new baby in the house, I've really thought A LOT about the differences between Max's and Maggie's beginnings. Having Maggie is so different from when we had Max - for obvious reasons. We didn't have an "active" 2-yr-old or anything needing our attention other than Max. With Max, our camera was so FULL of pictures of Max we had to upload pictures to make room for more CONSTANTLY. Maggie's life, however, is being documented by my iphone. (The iphone is filling up fast!!) This could be a blessing or a curse. It's a blessing in that I always have my phone handy to capture a sweet Maggie memory and rarely miss a picture perfect moment because I didn't have my camera - however, it means Maggie's pictures are of poorer quality and there is never a flash. (Good thing she's so cute - she looks good grainy and in poor lighting!)
Maggie is such a sweet little girl and I LOVE cuddling with her! Good thing, because Maggie likes to be held - A LOT. This also differs from Max. While he liked being held, he really liked his bed (and tiny love mobile) and was taking naps in his bed within the first 2 months. Maggie, however, is a little more needy. She naps best when held and has a hard time falling asleep without the assistance of my finger to suck on or eating. She naps really good in her swing and will sometimes nap in her co-sleeper. Maggie needs to learn to suck her thumb like her brother! ;) Believe me, she is trying hard. Sometimes we'll hear her smacking - and she smacks LOUD - and look over to see her sucking on her hands. In the end she gets frustrated because she can't get her fingers in her mouth. She's only 7 wks old - surely she'll get the hang of it soon.
There are so many things I'd forgotten about having an infant, which is crazy considering Max is only 2 (almost 3). Max was sleeping in his bed really well by the time he was two months old. During the day he was so easy to put down for naps - we followed the Eat, Activity, Sleep, Yourself (EASY) cycle. Of course he wasn't sleeping through the night or anything, but he would definitely sleep in his bed and followed the cycle really well. He learned to suck his hands, mainly his thumb very early and was able to soothe himself. He loved being swaddled and could fall asleep when placed in his bed groggy without my assistance. Maggie on the other hand HATES being swaddled. She SCREAMS like she's in pain if either of her arms are swaddled. She will not sleep in her bed unless she is sleeping in the co-sleeper placed in her bed - I guess it's still just too big for her! She also refuses to fall asleep without my assistance - whether it be my finger or eating, she has a very hard time "happily" falling asleep without help. She tries so hard to suck her thumb/fingers but just can't figure out how to unclench her fist to make it easier. She just smacks (very loudly) on the side of her hand until she's frustrated. It makes is hard to follow EASY when she has a hard time falling asleep b/c it's time for her eat soon after she's finally down - but we are having some better days.. She still isn't a great nurser so we can't miss a feeding and I'm very hesitant to give her pacifiers but think I may have to if she can't figure out how to suck her hands for comfort. I don't won't her to not have a means of comfort when I'm not around. Maggie does really well at night time once she gets to sleep. For about a week and a half, Maggie has been going to sleep for the night about 10:30/11:00 (with assistance but in the co-sleeper). She sleeps for about 5 hours, wakes up, eats, and immediately goes back to sleep (with no assistance). Then she's back on on the every 2-3 hours wanting to eat. We are very lucky that we still have days where she'll sleep so soundly we have to wake her to eat!!
Well enough talk - on to some pictures! Enjoy!!
Max at Christmas. (He still loves boxes on his head!!)

It's just terrible that this is the only picture I've posted from Christmas! Terrible I know. Yet another example of the difference between when Max was a baby to now - having two little ones doesn't leave much time for blogging! I did a really good job of documenting Max's life with the blog because I can print into a book. Poor Maggie's life is being documented on facebook - I don't think I can print my fb page into a book! so sad!!
Maggie's first time accessorizing - not sure that she loved it! (Her daddy didn't but her brother wanted a flower in his hair. O' how I hope Maggie has Max hair for flowers one day!)
Sweet sleeping girl!
This was when she was about 6 weeks and one of her first social smiles. She really has started to give out some smiles! It's so sweet.

I love this face!

This was Max!! (Such a Cutie!)

This picture of Maggie, reminds me SO much of Max.

I love this picture of her swinging! (I love that she's swinging and happy without being held too!!)

Max wanted to try sleeping in her co-sleeper - I guess it's only fair since it was originally his co-sleeper. He just doesn't fit into like he use to!

He said, "She hit me!" Notice her clenched fist. Considering the size difference, I think he can handle it!

A profile shot to highlight her widow's peak (which makes her look a tad like Eddie Munster).
