As you can tell, she's STILL such a happy baby. She just squeals with delight all the time!! I remember so clearly when Max was born and we were first home from the hospital. Specifically, I remember being so overwhelmed with love (anxiety with worry over EVERYTHING but that's another post for another day). I was ABSOLUTELY convinced that we couldn't have anymore children because there was simply no more room in my heart. Seriously - my heart was so FULL I just didn't think I had any more love to give. I.was.SO.WRONG!! I also remember finding out we were having a girl. To be honest, I was nervous and overwhelmed - pretty shocked. Being a girl myself and remembering what it was like as a pre-teen and teen on top of being so "skilled" as the mom of a boy, I wasn't sure I was up to the task. As you all know, I'm not scared to shop ESPECIALLY for my kids clothes. While I was pregnant with Maggie, I couldn't even hardly buy her anything. I was so overwhelmed with all the bows, tights, dresses, rompers, shoes, etc that I just couldn't make a decision. (I think I've gotten past it ;) in case you were worried). Well, Maggie has totally taught me God is in charge and knows what I need. I absolutely cannot imagine my life without this sweet little girl. She completely enhances our lives! I LOVE LOVE LOVE playing dress up with her (I'm really getting into the bows). She even will sit in my lap and watch girl shows!! Just today we watched Project Runway! ;) She makes my heart so happy. I don't want to forget how full my heart is when I'm rocking her at night. She fits so perfectly on my shoulder and nuzzled right under my chin. I just shh in her ear while we rock. I want to squeeze her so tight I'm scared I might hurt her!!
Maggie is now eating baby foods, twice a day. I feel like she eats ALL day long - nursing or solids ALL DAY. Look:
Eating (love those little fingers)
Like I said, she likes to eat. Her favorites are squash and sweet potatoes. She likes pears and prunes but thinks apples are just ok. She really does not like ANY green vegetables. The other day she literally sat in her chair with her mouth wide open waiting for the next bite the ENTIRE feeding. I've never seen her do that before. I could not feed her fast enough. She ate a large bowl of oatmeal and 3 phase 2 jars (3.5 ozs EACH) of baby food!! 3!!! Kelly thought her belly was going to explode. (It reminded him of a scare we had with Rocky when he was a puppy! I'm just glad we didn't have to call the vet.)
Well, I decided if she was really that hungry she could handle some peas. As soon as I gave her the peas she began gagging. I thought she was going to throw up. Whenever I would try to give her another bit of peas she would NOT open her mouth but when I offered squash, she opened wide and went back to leaving her mouth WIDE OPEN! So, I again tried the peas and again she gagged and almost threw up. Guess the girl knows what she likes - who am I to argue!
Don't be fooled by all the eating. She is still pretty tiny. Don't get me wrong, she is certainly healthy - I mean look at those rolls. What rolls?
Nonetheless, she's still a petite little thing (especially considering she was 8 lbs 2 oz when she was born). At her 6 months check up on July 13, Maggie weighed 15 lbs and 15 oz which is the 41st percentile. She measured 27.5 inches long which is the 93rd percentile and her head circumference was 17 inchs, the 65th percentile. So, she hadn't doubled her birth weight. I hope she stays long and lean! Maggie really does favor Max a lot but she is definitely more feminine. I, of course, think she is ABSOLUTELY beautiful. She wears mostly 6 months clothing but can fit into some 9 month outfits. Our days have gotten pretty routine. She wakes up around 4:30 or so, I nurse her in our bed and she'll sleep until about 7 or so. She'll nurse again and then play in the bed while her lazy mom tries to wake up. She's not near as accommodating as Max was when he was a baby. He'd lay in our bed, QUIETLY, in the morning for the longest time - Maggie, not so much. She is so noisy and pulls hair. We get up and she'll eat breakfast around 8:30 or 9. She takes at least three naps a day - 1 around 9/10 for about an 1-2 hours, another around 1 for an hour or so and another around 4/5 for about an hour. She eats dinner around 6:30 or 7, takes a bath and goes to sleep for the night around 8. Just a sweet, cuddly girl!
As you can see from the picture Maggie can kind of sit up. She can sit up for a bit. She still falls over but she is almost there! She is also ALL over the place. She doesn't crawl but she rolls and scoots (mainly backwards). Regardless I'll lay her on her play mat and the next thing I know, she's on the other side of the room. She has started to push up on her toes and get on her knees a little, so we'll see. I have a feeling it won't be long until she figures out how to crawl.
Her third tooth (the right front top tooth) made its appearance yesterday. She also started clapping. I'm not sure if it's on purpose or a fluke but she has done it more than once and is
EXTREMELY pleased with herself when she claps. It's precious. Maggie loves patty cake. I'll never forget the first time Memaw patty-caked with Maggie, her face just lit up!! That's always a sure fire way to get a smile! She also LOVES pounding on the computer (which makes it hard to blog) and chewing on the iphone. I love when she gets really excited. She just smiles SO big that her eyes squint. It's SO cute. I love my Maggie girl!! Sometimes, she'll wrinkle her nose and breath in and out - it isn't quite like what my cousin Rachel did as a baby, but close and pretty cute!
Maggie isn't the only one who occupies my heart. I also LOVE my Maxy boy! He is all of the sudden such a little boy. He is completely potty trained - I guess. He wears underwear all the time and RARELY has an accident. He does sleep in a pull-up but is dry many mornings. We put him in the pull up because I don't want to change sheets every morning. He is a BUSY boy and is still SO tall!! He is about a head taller than every kid in his class. He wears 4/5s. We've really started working more on our letters but could really do better. It's my goal to be better. He can spell his name and can type it on the computer. He can recognize quite a few letters - we've really got to get serious about our letters. Max is a typical three year old. He wants to play ALL the time, rarely eats and pushes his limits. I still hate disciplining him. We had a rough night the other night and he was in trouble quite a bit. He told me he didn't like me and I wasn't his best friend. He was still mad at me when it was time to go to bed. I told him, I loved him and he responded, "I not love you mommy." HURT.MY.HEART!!! I mean really!! Of course, it got me thinking I was too hard on him and maybe I should let some things go. Then, I got over my pity party and remembered, I'm not his friend - I'm his mom. He's three and needs the boundaries and discipline. Say a prayer for me!!

We went to the lake this past weekend with one of my best friends, April and her wonderful family. We had a GREAT time. Other than two incidents with Max throwing a shoe and biting, we had a GREAT weekend. I couldn't believe how good both Max and Maggie were the entire time. Maggie did FANTASTIC on the boat. Shocking really. She even did great at night time in the pack and play. Max did not like swimming in the the open water at first. I think he is just so use to our lake where he can always touch, the he just didn't feel safe. But Amy and Rob helped him work that out and by the end of the weekend he was happy to be swimming in the water and even tubed with his mom!! SO much fun!!
Kelly had a good time too
Summer has been so busy. I've been trying to get on track with my eating. I've lost 22 lbs and have started incorporating exercising back into my routine. I'm trying to start running again, which is really hard because (1) it is SO hard to push two kids in a double stroller walking much less running and (2) my neighborhood is nothing but KILLER hills - however, I'm going to make it a habit!! Say another prayer!!
Max has had a tough summer at school. His school closed for the summer so I had to find a summer solution for both babies and it was at a different Mother's Day out. EVERY day we would ask, "do I get to go to my old school today?" and when I answered, "no" he would get SO upset. He would constantly ask to go to his old school to see his friends Bernie and Mia. It was sad. But it answered another prayer for me. Maggie can't start at Max's school until she is 18 mths old. I had the opportunity to send the both kids to the same school this year but I was worried how Max would transition. This summer taught me Max needs to go back to Christ the King and I'll just be inconvenienced another year taking them to two different schools. Totally worth it!
Our family welcomed another GIRL cousin!! Ted, Amy and Annika welcomed a new baby!! Britta Quinn McNulty. We've seen pictures and she's precious!!! Keep them in your prayers (especially Ted who had a little medical issues). I don't have any pictures of the new Annika's new sister so I guess you'll have to settle with a picture of my babies!!
That was taken at Maggie's 6th month check up. Super sweet in my opinion!!! Well, have a GREAT week!! love and hugs!!
